Advice for Sophomores
- Continue to pray for God’s direction. Identify the gifts and passions God has given you. Begin to identify what vocation you might choose, thereby helping you decide where you will go to college.
- Concentrate on doing your best on your schoolwork, bolstering a high GPA/numeric average. Your grade point average will be a key determinant in your college choice.
- Take seriously and do your best on the PSAT; check with your advisor for details.
- Take seriously and do your best on the PLAN test, a practice test for the ACT. The PLAN test will help you to identify your interests and skills.
- Seek out clubs, organizations, and projects of interest.
- Perform community service on a regular basis; many scholarships depend on it. Keep a record of when, where, and how many hours.
- Use your time constructively.
- Begin now to visit colleges while on trips, family vacations, etc.
