Advice for freshmen
- Concentrate on doing your best on your schoolwork, establishing a high GPA/numeric average. Your grade point average will be a key determinant in your college choice.
- Take seriously and do your best on your PSAT. Your test scores on these types of tests will be another major determinant in your college choice.
- Do your best quality of work on all assignments, tests, quizzes, projects, etc. and be prepared each day to be fully engaged in classes
- Seek a tutor if it will help you learn faster.
- Seek out clubs, organizations, and projects of interest.
- Read a variety of books regularly; read more books than just the required reading at school. Ask your teachers, youth pastor, parents, etc. for ideas about good books.
- Perform community service on a regular basis; many scholarships depend on it. Keep a record of when, where, and how many hours.
