Official results are finally in from the ACSI District Spelling Bee held on January 28 at Prestonwood.  Results were delayed this year, but we are (finally) pleased to recognize the following students who placed in the top half of their grade level at the competition.  It is an accomplishment that requires a great deal of hard work to achieve!  Our CCCA spellers were outstanding!

4th grade:
Samantha Tufford – 8th place
Kamille Galloway – 11th place

5th grade:
Joseph Tu - 1st place
Jayson Smith – 5th place

6th grade:
Annette Meyer - 2nd place
Eliza Kline – 8th place

7th grade:
Minaz Zad – 4th place
Kristy Ng – 5th place

8th grade:
Joey Goodale – 11th place
Trey Sykes – 12th place

We also want to recognize our third grade representatives.  It was their first year at Prestonwood, and it can be a little overwhelming the first time!  We appreciate their hard work and hope they will be back to participate again next year.

3rd grade:

Nicholas Matta

Storey Record

Fifth through Eighth grade students who place first and second go into a "spell-off" between the top eight overall spellers.  Joseph Tu (5th grade) and Annette Meyer (6th grade) qualified for the spell-off.  Annette placed second overall and Joseph placed 5th.  Annette will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee in Irving on March 12, 2011.  We are proud that our Canyon Creek team placed two spellers in the spell-off, and  had so many others in close competition.

Congratulations to all our spellers!
